Almarte was born from the need and ingeniality of creating art. Art that is unique, beautiful and fun. Most important, it should be seen as Functional Art.
Many of our art pieces function as bi-dimensional sculptures, but are also used as tables, or other objects which can be useful and decorative at home. Spinning eyes, or planets that shine, are all beautifully designed and meticulously put together in stained glass pieces, all cut and hand polished.
The dedication and patience given to each of these pieces, is the result seen in the combination of rich colours and textures, which give our pieces a very original touch. Due to the abstract shape of several of these pieces, the design on top of the table may be more abstract and simple. On the other hand, table designs with simpler shapes, are the ones which may have more detailed design on top.
To add our own personal touch, we have made these tables spin, which adds a bit of fun to the tables, and clients from all over the world love this and I hope you do too!
Company Director Maria Paula Holguin
A Colombian girl, Maria Paula Holguin combines work with looking after her ten year old son Pascal living and working in her native Colombia which gives Almarte the perfect combination of warmth, passion for life, and amazing beauty. This is reflected in her work!
When Maria was a young girl, she was taught how to speak and write English. In her teenage years, she left her native Colombia to live with her family in the United States of America. By her college years she was back in her native country and began studying Fine Arts.
From there Maria and Almarte have not looked back, creating stunning pieces of art combining function with style and selling her work across the globe.
